Our History

Since the year it was born, 1966, I&S has continued to evolve until in 2010 it become leader in the fashion and luxury world. Window settings,  visual tools and plexy accessories represent only the tip of the company, that is in fact surrounded by others companies. The growth of I&S is the result of a unique intertwining that continues today thanks to the internal skills, their sense of creativity and the dedication with which they reach the set goals.

1966

MAPA began its adventure in 1966 in the heart of Florence. In its workshop colored plastic material was used to make lightboxes for the Florentine shops of the time. After the flood in the same year, the workshop was saved thanks to its position: Porta Romana is located on the hill side of the city. A few years later, thanks to Wanda Ferragamo maison, MAPA starts producing plexy shelves that will display products in the shops all over the world, letting them float in light. 

1966

MAPA began its adventure in 1966, in the heart of Florence. In the laboratory, colored plastic was used to create illuminated signs for the Florentine shops of the time. After the flood in Florence, the business was able to save itself thanks to the position in which it was located: Porta Romana was slightly uphill. A few years later, thanks to the maison of Wanda Ferragamo, MAPA begins to produce shelves, which in all the shops in the world will support the products by letting them float on the light.

2004

Thanks to MAPA, in the October of 2004 was born I&S, that specializes in the production of PMMA for the world of fashion and luxury. The production of windows set up, visual tools and windows accessories becomes the company’s core business, and I&S increasingly works with international designer and brands. 

2011

Since 2011 I&S has acquired MAPA, the historic Florentine company, with the belief that plexy would have a great future. New projects and new challenges become the field to strengthen and enrich the team already present. International orders are growing and the arrival of increasingly innovative projects leads I&S to become a point of reference for the entire sector, a point where luxury and technology meet.

2011

Since 2011 I&S has acquired MAPA, the historic Florentine company, with the belief that plexy would have a great future. New projects and new challenges become the field to strengthen and enrich the team already present. International orders are growing and the arrival of increasingly innovative projects leads I&S to become a point of reference for the entire sector, a point where luxury and technology meet.

2015

In 2015 I&S decides to broaden its horizons and gives life to SILIA to create a collection of home decor accessories using plexy, an innovative material that with its characteristics produces spectacular games of light. Anther project starts to take shape: The Tree Mag, an online magazine on architecture and design that over the years becomes a reference point for professionals of the sector. The first interview to SANAA leads the way to a long list of interviews to famous architects, designers, photographers and communication experts. 

2018

In order to continue its growth, I&S adds Creative Leather to its establishment. Creative Leather  had been around for decades and specialized in covering surfaces with leather and fabrics, and  thanks to its artisans’ know how has always worked for the world of luxury at an international level. In the meantime another project takes shape, the idea of producing a new collection of home accessories made of plexy, inspired by the passion for transparencies and game of light and colors. That’s how The Circles was born: a contemporary collection of original accessories of great brightness and color. 

2018

With a view to expansion, I&S does not stop and adds Creative Leather, a company specializing in leather upholstery and other fabrics that for decades, thanks to the skill of master craftsmen, has been working for international luxury customers. In the meantime, the idea of ​​creating a line of plexy products takes shape, starting from the love for transparency and refractions of light. Thus was born TheCircles which blends light, transparencies and colors into a line of original products.

2020

The increasing digital growth highlights the necessity to have a digital-strategy company as a part of the Group. BICS was born to help companies grow and improve their performance through digital communication and social media. The pandemic represents a challenge to take on the production of fabric face masks. The CE certification proves the high quality of the product that guarantees the highest standards of safety as well as appearance.
